There is something immediately chaotic about It’s Getting Harder. From the moment the EP opens with For The Attention of…, Be N!ce make it obvious that they are going to do what all great Punk Bands do – deliver scathing social commentary. This EP serves as a great insight into the inner lives of the band, while tackling the issues that many of us face in Britain in 2026. This angst is captured throughout the songs, and I am sure that this will resonate with many listeners.

What makes this release so captivating to me is the bands ability to be so versatile, while maintaining a cohesive feel between all 6 songs. From cutting big riffs, to droning chords, Be N!ce created a style that is both true to classic punk bands, while also creating their own style. It definitely feels like a post-hardcore release, that also manages to carve out a signature style throughout.

This is particularly impressive considering that the guitar riffs shift between being melodic and catchy, to heavy and brooding, to down right chaotic between songs. However, it isn’t just the guitar riffs that are memorable: the drum fills in Oopsie are recklessly chaotic bursts of fills that seem to channel System of a Down. They kick the song off, really complement the rage shown in the song.

The strongest moment in the EP is the way that I KNOWGIRLS pivots into Guess I’ll Die. IKNOWGIRLS serves as a high-energy call to action, bringing the struggles of women to the forefront of the song. But then, things get more personal. I Guess I’ll Die highlights the struggles of women to get help under a collapsing NHS. For me, I Guess I’ll Die is punk rock social commentary at its finest. It is an exploration of how lives and experiences are shaped by the world around them – and while focusing on women’s experiences in healthcare, manages to be relatable to many listeners. The lyrics of For The Attention Of… also manages to capture the experiences of women being harassed by men, but this time in a comical way by exploring the bizarre emails the band received from “the singer of the first band last night”. This sets the EP up as an unforgettable feminist release.

I am equally impressed with the song Green Burial. It manages to capture the anxiety of young people today, faced with a climate crisis and growing wealth inequality. Be N!ce’s solution is simple – kill two birds with one stone. It is a call to arms, provoking people to get angry at those in power. then there is Buddy, showing that they are not afraid to be subversive in their music. This album truly is Punk – it sets out to highlight the problems people face, and challenge the status quo.

Production-wise, It’s Getting Harder is the right kind of unpolished. It has a live-like quality that draws me in immediately. From the tone of the bass, the space given to the drums and the weight of the guitar, the EP manages to make each instrument complement the other. There is, however, one massive issue across the release…

The vocals sit to high in the mix.

For me, this is the only place that the EP falls apart. Pol Mill’s vocals are at the very forefront of the track. They seem to overpower the rest of the band in many of the songs. While their vocals are provocative and impactful, using various effects throughout the EP to emphasize the point of the song and to story tell, it drowns out the other elements in the tracks. But given that the songs are politically charged, it brings the lyrics to your attention.

Maybe that’s the point.

Overall, Be N!ce have released an incredible EP that will be relatable for many listeners. Captivating lyrics, exciting vocals, and riffs, fills and thrills throughout – this is certainly an album to listen to. The production is well-rounded, well-though out and impactful. Given that this is a band that doesn’t yet have a full length album out, it will be exciting to see where they go next. For me, it makes me wish to see them live in the very near future.
